Yet, both countries profit (in the billions) from the sale of alcohol, tobacco, and (some) pharmaceuticals that contribute to disease and death. ๐ตโ๐ซ

01.12.2024 21:10 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0From a public health perspective, ๐จ๐ฆ โs system is superior to the ๐บ๐ธ because in ๐จ๐ฆ nobody is uninsured. However, inequities exist in ๐จ๐ฆ due in large part to the two tiered system. ๐จ๐ฆ does not have enough hospitals and healthcare providers to meet the demand and it will get much worse as babyboomers age.
24.11.2024 01:12 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0However, ๐จ๐ฆ has a two-tiered healthcare system operating within its universal plan. Roughly more than half of Canadians have some sort of private insurance plan (typically) through their employer. This is a key factor for the disparity in mental healthcare in ๐จ๐ฆ.
24.11.2024 00:51 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0๐จ๐ฆ has a universal healthcare system = everyone is insured regardless of age, (pre)existing conditions or employment status. ๐บ๐ธ has a predominantly private healthcare system = not everyone is insured & those with comprehensive private plans receive care better care than patients with gov funded care.
24.11.2024 00:27 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0In ๐จ๐ฆ, we donโt invest enough resources into the type of universal mental healthcare necessary to address the existing mental health crisis. Accessible, culturally competent, high-quality, and timely mental healthcare is not an option for most. Privatizing mental healthcare was a mistake from day 1.

Taking away supervised consumption services is like taking away the emergency department for this population. So much for a 'recovery-oriented system of care.' #ableg
