I heard what sounded like a dogβs squeaky toy in my back yard. It was two hawks (Cooperβs Hawks?) hanging out and eating a large rodent with a long tail. A first for me, but it seems they are fairly common in the Vancouver area.

Are they architects? Planners? Heritage professionals? Oh, no? They have no expertise on the subject matter at all?! I see, several of them own homes in the area. Thatβs interestingβ¦. Isnβt that sometimes considered a conflict of interest?

It gives us a yardstick for how much progress had been made over 30 years and a reference point for where we might be heading without βidentity politicsβ. The scare quotes arenβt because identity politics arenβt real, but because they are not new. The difference is who leads the conversation. 2/2

Iβm still thinking about the Lilith Fair doc. It presents a very clear story about identity politics from 30 years ago, when radio stations refused to play more than 1 woman artist in a rotation and the industry was much more racially segregated. 1/2

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a fun romp, but also feels like a sanitized version of a Bob Fosse musical. Fosse would have dialled up the sleaze past 11

I just watched the Lilith Fair doc on CBC. When the festival was running I was barely aware of it, living on the outer reaches of the continent without much news or internet. The doc is great. And despite Lilith Fair being from another century, itβs so relevant to today. Worth a watch
