Little break in the rain so cleared a slug invasion out of the new artichokes, pruned up a grape vine (hoping for grapes this year), weeded and pulled nettles out of a planting bed (they were already inches high and the rhizomes were easily six feet) and cut back the lavender. Radishes are up!

These men yucking it up and looking like they are just having the very best of days... it's so perverse, so disgusting. I want them tarred, feathered, and driven out of town on a rail.

He asked staff more than once during his first term "why have them if you don't use them". He's had a perverse fascination with nukes for a long time and has no moral inhibitions... really bad combination and our system gives that one man the keys.

You can't start a war that costs billions a day, cut taxes to the richest, slash health care subsidies and then try to have us not pay attention to all that with a little token vapor gesture about housing...

We need better people in Congress.

Signed up for a Stanford course this morning mostly because I wanted a chance to engage with thinker Lisa Kay Solomon. The best things happening in my little sphere at the moment are conversations with whip-smart women doing interesting things.

Frogs were out in a riot last night, so it's officially winter over.

Okay, I've been watching your Agatha posts thinking... mmmm, really? I long ago avoided mystery reads because I was always figuring it all out very early and got very bored. Seems maybe not so with Dame Agatha?

When I saw this earlier... the irony, it's priceless.

Kudos to any State trying to be more transparent about these risks, it's not easy. Oregon suffered through a massive reaction over wildfire risk mapping. But it's necessary work, confronting reality.

"The initiative has ignited a familiar debate over the unintended consequences of risk disclosure."

I want laws/enforcement of laws about this type of media consolidation. (And these men? These men are some of the worst of us.)

So remarkably frustrated by the United States government this week. That it is in the hands of the worst, most incompetent, most compromised people. Ideologues and grifters. That our society enables it all. That they give a blank check to war mongers and the 1% and literally starve the country.

It's out! Thrilled to have two poems published in this lovely journal--Daybreak and Clementine (pgs 9 and 10). They have one of the best digital experiences, gorgeous layout and when you open the issue you hear the pages turning (love that)

It may have been a risky move to step out of corporate into a planned year long (at least) sabbatical last June, drawing down savings, but right now I wake up every morning, look around, and am thankful 👀.

Just having time to think beyond the two-sec news headline is irreplaceable.

Somehow came home with ten artichoke plants from the local nursery today--purple violets and the big green globes. Like everything, home grown is a whole different thing.

The capacity our society has for elevating this type of guy just stuns me (still). Like go have a beer with him if that's your thing, but be serious about his character and lack of qualifications. That people would choose this over the slightly less than perfect woman who's solid and served... oye.

Perfect garden work weather, 50degrees, sunshine and no bugs (yet). Trying to get ahead of weeds and new planting beds. Very much on the upswing of crazy garden time. Everything's growing or needs to be prepped for growing or needs to be stomped on early (blackberries and thistles). Good distraction

This is a remarkably weak statement, full of passive voice. This nation needs better leadership from Senate democrats. You do not have the spine for this moment.

Morning's poetry was from one of Colorado's Poet Laureates, Joseph Hutchison. In his poem The Gulf written in response to the Deepwater Horizon disaster in 2010, there is one line--

"We speak, said the poet, in the possible tense."

Had my little writer thrill tonight--previewed the final layout for work coming out soon and it's always such a thing seeing my words in print. It's so good.
