Indeed. While I've seen a couple of commercial fishing vessels pulled of the South Beach, They don't have the keels to dig in and they have the insurance to pay for it. But all the privately owned sailboats I seen beached have been written off.

A shipwrecked sailboat on Nye Beach after missing the opening of the harbor jetties in the fog. Sadly, when this happens, the boat are rarely salvaged, but rather destructively dismantled and hauled away. Their keels quickly get buried in the sand and they can no longer be hauled back out to sea or across the beach.

One of the occasional groundings that occur on the beach. Usually the skipper misses the opening between the jetties in fog or at night and ends up on the beach.

A tree on Nye Beach. From the growth of seaweed, it had been in the ocean for some time. It probably wash down a river out to sea and fetched up on the beach.
