If you want a β€œfun” yet β€œmildly stressful” experience, I would thoroughly endorse catching a screening of Jaws (1975) in 4DX.

Can anyone recommend some side-reading to accompany my introduction to Douglas Sirk? I’m distracted by the Freud of it all.

Last night I watched In The Mood for Love (2000) for the first time, a 35mm print at The Prince Charles (classic). Couldn’t help but notice some parallels in both the theme and visuals with Umbrellas (1964) β€” fitting given the period of Hong Kong history Wong Kar-wai hones in on.

This was adapted for an UG paper of mine, in which I trans David Bowie and Scarlett Johansson’s alien humanoid characters. Realised with the support of Professor Rosalind Galt. Available here:

Girlhood Under the Male Gaze πŸŽ€ In this list of films the male gaze is prevalent either textually, extra-textually, or both. Girlhood is therefore how girls are seen by males and how their habits, fascinations, routines, and collect...

Made a lil Letterboxd list for films that exemplify when girlhood is constructed through the male-gaze πŸŽ€
