Absurdia Update: meet the guest writers!

I’m beyond excited to announce Elliot Davis, Irving Benitez, Kendrick Smith, and Samantha Leigh as our stretch goal guest writers!

At $25k, this wickedly talented cabal will put together a kaleidoscope of ready to play one shot scenarios for Absurdia 👁️

I think it's good when the group is very cautious about chaos generation because then you don't have to feel bad really twisting when they do, haha. "chaos flood" is i think the more common experience and the table dynamic there veers away from tension into silliness much faster

By framing them as opposites and occasionally compelling your behavior, they force an honesty about the challenges and temptations around being a hero. maybe splitting hairs but I think that's by expanding what your character is, not by staying within its bounds!

I think the key thing traits show is that actions outside of your character's desired values are not "out of character," and that's what makes them magical! Not that they stay restrained to your character but that they recognize temptations and challenges inside all people in the setting

If you want to talk to those creators directly tho almost all of them are active in the haunted table discord! and there are also some projects listed in our community creations forum there that aren't on itch and are hosted free elsewhere

Based on what I know of the third party creations on itch, itch is the only place they're currently hosted and nobody's complained at least on our discord server of having issues. Itch is often delayed (most especially for bundles) but not dodging. The money arrives! And the creator sets itch %

😭 I just finished what I think is the first one of those (key character guest party member, mission ending with a scene under the stars) and I can't believe they keep that up. I'm going to need to switch to hard mode i think to have fun

not letting me flag goal personalities or stat needs for particular digivolutions is its biggest crime right now. the whole game improves by like 300% if they stop making me revisit the digivolution menu

it is so bizarre that every piece of digimon media is allowed one completely messed up horrifying detail that hurts to think about but the rest has to be cartoon baby time even when they say it's not going to be

the personality thing is also so convoluted and hard to remember that i had a notebook out to write things down within 1 hour of playing this game. one hour !!! and it is not to win the game. it is just bc i want to evolve to the ones i like
