I do wonder how much it will cost taxpayers to heat and cool a 2,700,000 (at least) cu ft empty room year after year after year. @nicollewallace.bsky.social

We don’t have a free market. We have a market of monopolies that has routed $50 trillion to the top 10% and left only $5 trillion in the hands of the bottom 50%. No one should become comfortable with one man having $500 billion when ordinary working Americans can’t pay for shelter & groceries.

I checked with Missouri department of health and there is no statutory requirement for a prescription but they told me all the chain pharmacies are requiring one for CYA. So one more step in what was previously pretty much a walk-in process.

This whole interview is just one more reason to stop watching ABC. Radditz is what passes for serious journalism in the MSM these days.

They aren’t reviewing all of them - only those of brown and black people and people whose names aren’t European.

I’m a boomer and it just astonishes me how blind many of my age-mates are to the realities of the U.S. economy for younger people. It’s NOTHING like it was for us.

I believe according to most real estate orgs, the average age in 1980 was about 27 or 29 (can’t remember exactly, but it it pretty much nailed when we bought our first home). It has been increasing steadily since. I’m sure you could google a chart. Median age for of all purchases has risen too.

And the fact that the average age for first time home ownership is now 38 because housing is unaffordable too.

What we hear them say to convince each other is “it’s now or never.” They believe in what they are doing - every last one of them - and they don’t expect to ever lose power again.

If my taxes don’t pave my roads or fix my bridges or keep my schools open 5 days a week or pay local teachers a living wage or help keep my hospital open or help my neighbor’s kid eat lunch or fund public television or my healthcare…

Why the f’ck should I pay taxes?

Why is Nashville doing it on July 19? Everything I have seen about national organization is July 17. (I actually think the 19th is a better idea, but I’m just saying what I have seen.)

Biden also increased subsidies on the ACA and the number of people eligible for them and that will all go away now.

I was attacked by three unleashed dogs while walking my dad’s little dog. My dad’s dog was killed. I NEVER go out without pepper spray now and believe me, I will put it right in your GD dog’s face when I spray to make sure I don’t miss. Never again.

Howard Lutnick: arguably the stupidest member of a Cabinet in which that is a pretty low bar.

I just think it’s important to be honest about the trade-offs. As I said, it works well for some, but it IS costlier for taxpayers and many people find they don’t like and have trouble getting back on regular Medicare. You are taking some risk.

02.06.2025 02:43 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 0    📌 0

No, the government (taxpayers) are picking up the extra cost to the tune of $83 billion per year.

Medicare Advantage works well for some people, but it costs TAXPAYERS $83 billion more than regular Medicare and you are entirely at the mercy of a private for PROFIT insurance company. But whatever you can live with.

While true, the incidence of denied claims, at least for Medicare, is lower and denials aren’t made out of profit motive. And I agree, no one should overrule your doctors.

No. Medigap plans are (probably) D - G & best advice is an insurance agent you trust to help you. C is Medicare Advantage, which entirely replaces Medicare with private insurance. I don’t recommend, as they cost the govt $84 billion more per year than A & B & some of them aren’t trustworthy.

And my concern is that there continue to be more reports of denial of coverage by Medicare advantage companies. There was also a recent story about an Advantage company paying nursing homes to get people to switch to them and then not send them to hospital when medical need would indicate it.
