Like @philipcooke.bsky.social, I work with a lot of trans and queer folks and can also say I can't spot the difference btwn a trans kid v a gay kid. That's up to them.

"Gender affirming therapy" is actually a quite limited way to think about the process 🙃

Never not fucking angry the terfs got "exploratory therapy" instead of "gender affirming therapy" because what Philip says here is exactly right.

I appreciate the impulse to appeal to medical authorities, but medicalizing gender has done a lot to shape our current anti-trans hellscape.

To be clear, a doctor is as capable of determining a person’s “true” gender OR sexuality as they are capable of determining a person’s “true” favorite color.

We are not less racialised, or more shielded from racism, when our adopters are white. Our adopters might be blatantly racist or, at best, playing the color blind card. #adoption 🥚
