I actually have one for this! I met the band members from All Time Low at an after party and struck up a conversation with the drummer (?). I tried to flirt, culminating with the statement “you should buy us drinks.” I either intimidated him, or more likely weirded him out & he backed away slowly 💀😆

1know he doesn't wash his hair because he mentioned once that he thinks it's detrimental. This was early in our relationship, and I didn't see the need to comment when he didn't look dirty. When he gets his hair cut, the stylist washes it thoroughly and when he comes home, he looks so incredibly good with his hair fluffy and shiny. I find myself really looking forward to his haircuts. How can I speak to him about maybe washing his hair a bit more? Also, why are men like this? He is not the first man I have dated who thought that soap on the skin or hair was going to damage it and noped out of regular scrub-downs in favor of water. -Taking Grunge to a New Level

Dear Prudence, 1 (she/her) and my boyfriend of three years are both in our late-30s. I truly adore this man, but of course, no relationship or person is perfect, and I wouldn't be writing unless there was a problem to address. My handsome, thoughtful, intelligent boyfriend doesn't wash his hair. He is clean and smells nice, but he only rinses his hair in the shower and doesn't often touch it with shampoo (the rest of him gets a once over with an 18 in 1 {!!!} wash). This leaves his hair sometimes looking slick and heavy as though it's still wet. We are both white and his hair is fine and silky and seems to need more periodic washing it isn't getting.

I'm so glad that you have a friend with whom you've been able to celebrate life's highs and lows! A friendship that's lasted over 30 years is definitely rare and something to be treasured. I understand that you feel etiquette suggests gifts are appropriate for wedding guests only, but the greater question might be: What is your friendship with Julia worth? Because there was no wedding to be invited to, you weren't slighted by not receiving an invitation. Unless you're in a place of financial hardship -in which case, I would explain that to Julia-I would buy a gift to celebrate her daughter's happiness. If Julia's mentioned it more than a few times, it's obviously important to her. However, if you value etiquette over the friendship, then be honest with her about your feelings and move on from there.

"Julia" and I have been friends and neighbors for over 30 years. We have celebrated each other highs and lows-Ijust don't know how to handle this. Julia's daughter recently got married. It was a surprise to everyone. We didn't even know she was engaged and there was no wedding. This hasn't stopped Julia's daughter from spamming us all with her bridal gift registry. It is all luxury items and the cheapest is $50. All in all, the whole thing is just tacky and tasteless. Julia has now been complaining and campaigning for her daughter's gifts. It is a very uncomfortable topic for me. Julia has given my children gifts when they got married, but she was actually invited to the weddings.
