In case you needed some good news today, we secured our financing for our trans-owned and operate cafe today!!

This is a huge milestone. We’re thrilled the bank and the federal government believed in this dream and the plan to make it come alive. Can’t wait to open our doors soon.

Thanks. 💜 It’s been a wild time in my head and heart over the last few weeks. Really glad to have that behind me. But I also learned a lot about living in the moment and finding moments of joy in uncertainty. Taking that with me.

If you’re in/near Toronto, I cannot say enough good stuff about Women’s College Hospital. They were not only affirming to me as a trans man, but my partner had a mammo there as a trans women and they were great with her too. They made a tough situation easier.

I feel it’s important to talk about this stuff as a transmasc person because breast cancer can happen to us too. Heck, even cis men can get it. Please get that tissue checked out sometimes okay? It can be dysphoric AF (it really was) but am I ever glad that testing exists.

Trans man here. My top surgery scheduled for this week was postponed because they found something on my mammogram. I was called in for another mammogram/ultrasound. Then I had a biopsy last week.

Results came back yesterday. I’m cancer-free. Top surgery has been rescheduled for Oct. 24.

Exhale.

I tagged Disney in a post last night saying we cancelled our subscription and I’d like to think that’s what tipped them over.

I’ve been overwhelmed by the expectations put on me by the world, and also catch myself putting unrealistic (or potentially harmful) expectations on the people around me. That’s what @mavenofmayhem.bsky.social and I talk about on this week’s episode of Unboxing It.

I turned 49 today. Not everyone has met a trans person as old as me, so I figured I’d let you meet me. I have a lovely partner, 5 great kids, wonderful friends and family, and a life I’m grateful for every day.
