Seriously people. Don't make me have to blow up your figures on my huge screen to try to read your data when I'm reviewing it. This keeps happening. I'm not superhuman, I don't have super human vision. Be reasonable. Small figures save space in grants but they really piss off reviewers!!!

Funded by NIH + NSF. No private investor funds a 16-week mouse study on OL gene biology.

Federal science builds the foundation industry stands on. Neurological disease costs the U.S. $800B/year. This is what the return on that investment looks like.

Monitoring gene expression in the brain with a simple blood test?

In collaboration with @jerzyszablowski.bsky.social & his lab we figured out how to do it nonhuman primates using noninvasive neuroengineering of synthetic serum markers.

Donald Trump canceled Direct File after giant tax prep companies spent millions lobbying.

Why? Because Direct File let you file your taxes for free.

So today, I’m introducing a bill to make Direct File the law of the land. And 160 members of Congress are joining me.

NYU's Center for Neural Science is seeking a faculty candidate that would be jointly appointed with our Tandon School of Engineering. We are looking for post-doc applicants with neuroengineering or computational backgrounds.

These scientists saw a future in public serviceβ€”until Trump’s β€˜massacre’ hit Last year’s mass firings of β€œprobationary” federal workers sent researchers’ lives into turmoil

How the NIH became the backbone of American medical research and a major driver of innovation and economic growth The agency’s budget has grown steadily since the 1960s, fueling an industry that creates lifesaving medicines and attracts billions of dollars in investment.

A history of how the #NIH came to be. The purpose of the NIH is to support science innovation. Government support of science grows the economy, brings power and prosperity to the country. This was part of the budget increase after WWI.

It became our backbone.

Primate dexterous hand movements are controlled by functionally distinct premotoneuronal systems Distinct spinal and cortical pathways coordinate muscle synergies and fine control to support primate dexterous hand movements.

Our paper is out in Science Advances!
What makes primate hands so dexterous?
We show that evolutionarily distinct spinal and cortical pathways work together to balance stability and flexibility, supporting remarkable primate hand control.

I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.

We will never get more than what we celebrate Why allowing the Trump administration to reset our expectations will harm US science

As we start the think about F&27 appropriations, unpacking the FY26 budget may help set us up for next year.

We need scientists to engage in the process now - to fight for appropriation law that doesn't just fund NIH but fights to protect science and democracy.
