They can be a bit tricky. I extract them in several batches (fresh water, same avocado pits), and over several days, heating and letting cool a few times to let the dye oxidize. Making the dye bath a bit alkaline also helps with pinker pinks. I also use the skins along with the pits.

Made myself a pair of summer pants from a vintage linen bed sheet found in my grandma's house, and dyed them with onion skins from my garden. How's that for sustainable fashion? 😆

Finished this #greenleaf sweater just in time for spring. Getting to wear it is a nice consolation prize for the return of wintery temperatures and icy winds here in Manitoba.

Made these little table cloths as gifts for my grandma and great-aunt. Vintage linen bedding from their houses, printed with leaves and flowers from my garden!

A February batch of avocado dye. I'm not normally much of a fan of pink, but how could you not love it when brown shrivelly things that were destined for the compost give you a colour like this? Avocado pits and skins have won me over.

By way of introduction on this new platform with the idyllic name... here is a linocut I made a couple of months ago that touches on a few things I like a lot:
-Printmaking (duh).
-Gathering stuff when I'm out on a walk.
-A good, homegrown food stash!
