i want to remind people that the free press does not publish "journalism" in the way that someone who works in an actual newsroom would understand it

The more I think about Perfidia and Deandra, specifically, the more frustrated I become.

The only reason Perfidia doesn't feel like a complete caricature is because Teyana Taylor imbues her with meaning the script doesn't give her. Deandra just...disappears. Is she dead? The movie doesn't care!

This is absolutely a large reason I could not enjoy this movie on a critical level. The treatment of Black women revolutionaries was so underwritten, I was wondering if I was seeing the same movie as everyone gushing about how revolutionary it was…

Desperately needed that perspective in the scriptwriting process for sure

I think I may dislike this movie the more I think about it. Timely, sure, but actually sharp and incisive in what it’s saying about this time, not so much.

I just watched ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER and it was beautifully shot and well made but ugh I actually really disliked a lot about the movie’s narrative, point of view (scattershot as it was) and character treatment.

It's just a delightful example of its genre, one of my all-time horror faves (and one of the first horror movie I ever watched on my own)
