86% of French citizens support more quotas for small-scale fishers, poll reveals A vast majority of French citizens (86%) supports more quotas going to small-scale fishers and those using environmentally-friendly practices

France predominantly allocates fishing opportunities to its fleet based on past catch history, largely disregarding social & environmental criteria.

This is something also seen in Ireland with small scale vessels not recieving a fair share @iimro.bsky.social

Octopus boom along England's southwest coast down to 'perfect storm' A large - and normally rare - type of octopus is being caught by fishermen in Devon and Cornwall in enormous numbers. So what's going on?

As cod & ling, that used to populate British waters, migrate north to cooler waters, a large - and normally rare - type of octopus is being caught by fishermen in Devon and Cornwall in enormous numbers. Even tuna & shark.
So what's going on?

Model yacht racing has a long tradition on #Rathlin Island and today we had a super competitive windy race on Ushet Lough as part of the Rathlin Sound Festival. It involves a lot of running, getting wet and a bit of skill too. And here’s the winning boat! Racing with 10yr old Oscar today 😊🏆⛵️#RSF25
