Hmm. I do have that one German ancestor who came over here in the 1820s...

Yes. Disenfranchise some and make it difficult for the rest of us to travel abroad. I'm sure that onerous hoops to jump through to get a US passport & travel abroad won't be too far down the road for those of us who are only eligible for a US passport.

If I had a 2nd passport or were eligible for one, I absolutely would be choosing that one. I've tried to gently persuade my son to claim the Mexican citizenship that he's entitled to. As luck would have it, I have an official copy of his father's birth certificate, so it shouldn't be all that hard.

Yep. What do you want to bet they'll soon be placing onerous restrictions like this on us when we try to travel abroad?

You can say that again.

Some dumbass I've never encountered on here before replied to this with a link and the comment "Go face reality some time" and I just want to know why the everliving fuck so many male sports fans feel the need to be assholes to complete strangers.

And I think about this one every time I see a spoon sitting upside down on a surface.

See, this is why I don't really want to know anything about my teams' guys off-field or off-ice lives. I don't know who this is referring to and I don't want to. Still kind of heartbroken about Dunner & Garth being Charlie Kirk fans. Don't ruin any Cubs for me, please.

Probably not Grizzly Adams. There's a different version of the ad upthread that lists Don Haggerty, who is far likelier to be the correct Haggerty. Dan would have only been 23 years old in 1964. Don Haggerty would have been 50 & was a frequent small-part actor in early 60s tv programs.

This guy considers himself to be a socialist, but given his education & work history, chances are extremely high that he has never had an actual conversation with a working class person in his entire life.

There's only one thing I could read about Megan McArdle that would cheer me up.

A cow stands holding a piece of paper in front of rows of cows sitting in chairs. The standing cow is reciting this poem:
Distant Hills
The distant hills call to me.
Their rolling waves seduce my heart.
Oh, how I want to graze in their lush valleys.
Oh, how I want to run down their green slopes.
Alas, I cannot.
Damn the electric fence!
Damn the electric fence!

Thank you.

i want to be clear about this: worker’s rights also includes the right to be free from racist or sexist or gendered abuse at your job.

Omigod, that dumbass is on here? My working class white Midwestern single mother self would like to tell him to shove this hot garbage up his privately & overly educated ass.

Hi. Working class single mother & white woman from the Midwest here. Fuck ALL THE WAY off with this shit. Racism & treating customers like that is an EXTREMELY GOOD reason to fire someone and I would like you to tell this condescending prick to shove this garbage up his rich-boy ass.

That's a shame. My son loved those books. They deserve better (I haven't seen it myself).

Don't. I think you think you're being funny, but it is utterly unhelpful. There ARE women who are both alone AND lonely.

Centrist think tank? Wouldn't that require him moving to the left of where he currently is?

I'm afraid I got forced to sit through that thing while I was still working (I'm a retired elementary SpEd para) and it just made me angry.

I have this teddy bear that I bought in an Oxfam shop in England in 1986 because he’d clearly been so beloved at some point. His head was hanging by a string. I repaired him & made his little vest when I was trying to learn how to knit.

Yes, I suppose it's possible that they're still alive, but it seems more likely that they passed on or had to go into a nursing home or such. Buying a comic book in 1946 would mean they were probably about my father's age & he'd be 89 if he were still alive.
