🚨Major water pipe burst on Ilderton Rd

Thames Water are working on the pipe now - a further update expected at 11.30am

We are really angry that Thames Water have closed the road outside Rotherhithe station with no prior notice to residents. They informed the Council on Saturday morning that they needed to start emergency works (even though they had "road closed" signs up on Friday • Residents, especially the elderly and vulnerable residents, rely on the bus services around the peninsula for work, school and pleasure and to have left them with no alternative with no notice is not acceptable. We have contacted Transport for London asking them to put a shuttle bus service to replace the C10 and 381 buses, and hope that this can be provided as soon as possible. We will also be asking Council officers to look at sanctions against Thames Water for potential violations of the rules around emergency road closures.

The road closure by Thames Water with no notice, which has cut off bus access to the #Rotherhithe peninsula, is unacceptable. It isolates residents who rely on the bus. We have asked @transportforlondon.bsky.social to put in place a shuttle service to replace the C10 and 381 buses.

At @lb-southwark.bsky.social council assembly this evening I raised the increasing cost of energy for many leaseholders especially those on district heating. I will continue to work with @sezking78.bsky.social and leaseholders to explore options to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
