Weird. Maybe it's that twitch still counts lurkers during ads, because they are technically still watching the ads when they roll, so the counter spikes? That's my best guess since that'd be in line with the weird viewer counting changes they made recently.

Do people get more active in chat when an ad runs? Even if it's just saying "ADS"? I know twitch doesn't really count viewers anymore if they're not actively typing in chat, and your viewer count can double if people start chatting all at once.
