The Presumed Liability bill for drivers involved in crashes with people walking or bicycling will not become law in Washington this year.

HB 2095 may be dead but its Prime Sponsor, @staterepjuliareed.bsky.social, is very much alive & is already planning how to pass this law next session.

I’m not sure how many people just marched by our office, but it went on & on & looked like thousands.

Regular people are not happy about ICE. Perhaps sending masked men who shoot citizens trying to help their neighbors isn’t like Trump shooting someone on 5th Ave as he once mused that he could.

Thank you also for working with your colleagues to craft a bill that can and should become law.

UPDATE on HB 2095- The House Committee on Civil Rights & Judiciary took no action on the bill today, but HB 2095 is now scheduled for executive session on January 28 at 8:00 AM.

The revisions to HB 2095 in H-3070.1/26 include reducing the requirement of a driver being found liable for 3 prior injuries or killings of vulnerable road users to one before punitive damages apply.
