Has no one written on Immanuel Hai Ricchi (the early modern Italian Kabbalist)? Inter alia he wrote an explication of Lurianic Kabbalah in the style of the Mishnah (with original subdivisions) and was obsessed with Tzimtzum. Sounds fascinating.

Leket Yosher, Volume I (Orach Chayim) 4:1
R. Yoslein in the intro to Leket Yosher telling you it's not too late to write your book: "I need to explain how I came to write this book...I'm not yet a rav or chaver though I'm already 40+(praise G-d); this is how it happened...people kept asking me..."

Afaik also, Rishonim. Interestingly there's a Rivash (96) where he separates out Shavuot and matan Torah but reads the mikra as implying the connection between Omer and matan Torah: י"ל שאין קפידא בזה שלא תלה הכתוב חג שבועות ביום מתן תורה אלא ביום חמשים לעומר

Investing Meaning into Counting the Omer | Sefaria
You're right, it's murky and the citations are weak. It seems like the exact weeks/days paradigm of today comes from 18th century Lurianic siddurim like the one mentioned in the thread. I made this sheet about attempts to read meaning into Sefirat haOmer: www.sefaria.org.il/sheets/64504...

I just discovered Yonatan Brafman's thesis, it is 🔥.
Comparing the tocs of the diss vs. the book, the diss captivates my interest 10x more, so think I'll read that first. Even though reading long pdfs is annoying. Guys, it's that interesting.

Hey where are my alt-ac/post-ac people? Does anyone even say that anymore, feels very 2015
Can we talk for a minute about writing life off the TT when you tend to write very nerdy stuff? How are we conceptualizing/planning projects? How in the world are we making them happen with no summers off?

Today started at 4am with Houthi missles and ended with the long arm of US tax law vs. Israeli banking showdown, now the kids apparently expect me to make dinner? I managed to spend a few hours in the middle ages in there somewhere. How's your day going 😭

My 12yo wants to write down everything he knows in one book. This is how he divided all knowledge. 😍
I'm particularly excited that he grouped religion and culture together.
Note that in his periodization modernity starts in 1950.

Planning a trip to Paris this summer. How many medieval and/or Jewish things can I cram into my itinerary? Please advise! How long will my family give me at the BNF? Stay tuned...

Been doing more editing lately. I used to be a minimalist editor, hesitant to propose changes so as not infringe on the author's voice. One thing I'm learning is that it is a responsibility (and more respectful) to be heavier-handed. Writing is solitary, but more collaborative than I'd realized.

36 Great Books on Jewish Women’s History
Having ventured to recommend 54 essential readings in Jewish history, I wanted to dedicate a list to Jewish women’s history specifically. My focus here is on history, as opposed to Jewish feminist tho...
By popular request, 36 outstanding books on Jewish women's history. I have complicated thoughts on the writing of women's history and on the role that contemporary Jewish women play in it, but I'll save those for a proper write up some day. 🗃️ 📚💙

As the parent of a GenZ teen this doesn't surprise me, between mass shooter drills in the US & Iranian attacks here. Still, I think we're doing a disservice to our kids by not inspiring them with confidence that by working together, humans have been able to solve hard problems over our long history.
