There really is no excuse for the establishment to be backing Haley Stevens in Michigan.

McMorrow has the clearest path to victory in the general, and she and El-Sayed have real energy behind their campaigns, and are both charismatic and relatable.

I genuinely don’t see an argument for Stevens.

Judges order Trump administration to use emergency reserves for SNAP payments during the shutdown Two federal judge have ruled that the Trump administration must continue to fund the SNAP food aid program using emergency reserve funds during the government shutdown

Today, a court ruled that USDA acted unlawfully by completely suspending SNAP food assistance for November.

A separate court also ordered USDA to continue funding SNAP using its contingency funds.

No family should go hungry when the agency has billions in contingency funds for this very purpose.

D.C. residents speak out against MPD’s work with ICE at D.C. Council Local cooperation with immigration enforcement has become a flash point since the federal surge in D.C.

Dozens of people sounded off against MPD's cooperation with ICE during a D.C. Council on Thursday, but it's unclear what lawmakers will be able to do about it. My rundown on the hearing: 51st.news/dc-council-h...

Charges Dropped: Tennessee authorities dismiss charges against man who posted Trump meme Newly released video raises new questions about the arrest of a progressive Tennessee man for posting a Trump meme in a Facebook group

A retired police officer in Tennessee was arrested and jailed for more than a month (!) with a $2 million bond (!) over a Facebook meme.

The charges were only dropped today after national outcry and reporters obtaining evidence proving that the conservative sheriff who ordered the arrest had lied.

141,000 DC residents rely on SNAP to afford their meals β€” including 47,000 children and 24,000 seniors.

Three days after the nuclear power editorial, the Post weighed in on the need for local authorities in Washington, D.C., to speed the approval of the use of self-driving cars in the nation's capital. The editorial was headlined: "Why D.C. is stalling on self-driving cars: Safety is a phony excuse for slamming the brakes on autonomous vehicles."

Fewer than three weeks before, the Amazon-owned autonomous car company Zoox had announced D.C. was to be its next market.

"It strikes me that the failure to do this [disclosure] is concerning – whether out of negligence or worse," says Marcus, the former deputy editorial page editor. "I think telling your readers that there might be a conflict in whatever they're reading is always important. It's a lot more important when it involves whoever the owner is."

The Absurd Prosecution of a Man Who Posted a Charlie Kirk Meme Larry Bushart Jr. posted trolling memes on a Facebook thread about a vigil for Kirk. He’s been in a Tennessee jail ever since.

In the wake of Charlie Kirk's death, a TN sheriff had a 61-yr-old man arrested for posting a meme on Facebook, which the sheriff absurdly construed as a threat. It was pretty clearly bullshit but I dug into the case using FB & public records and now it looks even worse. My latest @theintercept.com:

Since we filed our lawsuit, our warning that the same strategy would be replicated in other cities proved true.

If this is allowed to continue, we risk setting a dangerous precedent that the same Armed Forces sworn to defend our freedoms can be deployed to suppress our freedoms anywhere in America.

And no city in America should be subject to involuntary military occupation.

After justices warned of prolonged suffocation, Alabama subjected Anthony Boyd to the longest nitrogen execution in U.S. history. Boyd was the chairman of Project Hope, a death row-led nonprofit. Its members are left reeling in the wake of their leader's suffocation execution.

Just over an hour after 3 Supreme Court justices warned that Alabamian Anthony Boyd would suffer psychological torture, he was subjected to the longest nitrogen gas execution in US history, gasping for air more than 225 times. Read my eyewitness account: www.treadbylee.com/p/after-just...
