We’ve arrived at Spring Break, and instead of settling in to binge watch any number of fun things I’m packing to take 16 students to Scotland for a week. I’m an idiot, but I’m an adventurous idiot.

I’ve found the Doesthedogdie website useful for just this purpose.

These dogs are having the time of their lives following this week's historic blizzard in the Northeast. Please enjoy. 14/10 for all

PSA: there is nothing more tasteless than the lemon danish from Starbucks. Literally. I taste nothing. It’s a scientific achievement, really.

Fun experiment. I got through 1200 without much difficulty, but the last two entries stumped me.

BREAKING: The Department of Education has ended its directive that attempted to restrict diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in schools nationwide.

This is a victory for academic freedom and education equity.

Meanwhile, in Germany, the public weighs in on what they think of the Epstein Administration.

U.K. might lose a prime minister because a guy who worked for him knew another guy who hung out with Epstein. Meanwhile the U.S. opposition party is telling our President, who was Epstein's best friend, that his secret police should get better training so their public street murders look less messy.

Benito is a threat b/c he makes art so alluring and enjoyable you want to understand everything about it and then you end up learning about sugar and slavery and colonialism and the Taínos and Hawaii and then you probably have some thoughts of your own, and that's why art is powerful and dangerous

The #badbunny halftime show was amazing. Let’s all acknowledge the real heroes - the #techcrew that basically loaded all of Puerto Rico onto the field in about five minutes and then got it off even faster. I want to see the video of that.

Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

It’s only the 2nd day of the semester and I’m already primal screaming in my house out of frustration. Academia gets worse and worse. I’m less than a decade from retirement and have realized my career is never going anywhere (ironically, because I work too hard). Why do you all stay? I need reasons.

Feeling bad for all the dystopian novelists out there because who wants to read it when we’re living it, but feeling good for them because, hey, write what you know. #fiction?

We have made it to the year 2026, the setting for the Giorgio Moroder version of Metropolis.

"I refuse." This is it. There's no reason we should accept a narrative of an already settled future which marginalizes humans and individual agency. No one wants this. No one asked for it.

How about we worry less, as a society, about whether individuals might be cheating to get a disability accommodation or some help buying food, and more about whether extremely wealthy people and corporations are paying their fair share of taxes?

Headed up to New York for the sole purpose of seeing Anne Washburn’s The Burning Cauldron of Fiery Fire before it closes because that’s how much I love apocalyptic drama and Anne Washburn (and @donnettalavinia.bsky.social). #theatresky

Seeing #EurekaDay in person is way different than reading it. When my class read it we took it seriously as a real conversation about vaccines and we thought the play didn’t work. In person I can see that it’s just a humorous takedown of really terrible people. #theatresky #puretheatre #charleston

Every time I come grocery shopping I become more convinced that somewhere in a back room, a @harristeeter.bsky.social manager is systematically going through the list of things I buy regularly and removing them from their orders.

As ludicrous as the whole answer is, what gets me is the use of “despite scale” to refer to Elon’s gaggle of offspring. Like they’re a business model, which I guess in his mind they are.

I’ve had to watch the “previously on” segment twice before each episode just to remember what I didn’t understand in the last episode. Haven’t yet decided if it’s worth it.

Right there with you. So many exams. So many papers. At least this semester I’ll have the fun of reading many students’ snarky comments about the current administration in their history papers.
