An absolutely valid thing to be asking long term!

An absolutely valid thing to be asking long term!
10.12.2025 02:49 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0They started taking shifts! Haha
10.12.2025 02:31 β π 10 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I apologize for any typos written in this thread; I HAVE BEEN SITTING IN ONE PLACE ALL DAY
10.12.2025 02:27 β π 13 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0My Substack subscribers helped pay this obscene cost - thank you to all that have gotten a paid subscription! Any lawyers offering pro bono public records help, please let me know.
10.12.2025 02:13 β π 22 π 4 π¬ 2 π 0My solution: if youβre going to pay a person watch me like Iβm a criminal then neither of us are up from our seats for 8 hours straight. π
10.12.2025 02:13 β π 33 π 0 π¬ 1 π 1Today I found a new low in public records hell: I paid $980.15 so a person employed by Salem Police could watch me view 33 year old records. My arguments with them went nowhere; they let me know any further viewing or copying would incur significantly more $.

Oh wait I forgot I actually did write about them a year ago open.substack.com/pub/leahsott...
05.12.2025 15:31 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Wow and I havenβt even written about Olivia Nuzzi and Ryan Lizza yet
05.12.2025 15:25 β π 37 π 2 π¬ 1 π 1I appreciate that!
05.12.2025 03:11 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Really appreciate you listening - thank you.
04.12.2025 23:51 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The Crime Writers On crew listens to approximately 1 billion podcasts every year. I would trust their opinion more than almost anyone on what's good and what's not. Appreciate their support and kind words.
04.12.2025 20:34 β π 21 π 6 π¬ 0 π 0It's amazing to me that people as far away as New Hampshire can understand the importance of Hush more than the leadership of @opb.org right here in Oregon does.
Again... you'd have to listen to the podcast though to understand it.
This is a huge loss to Oregonians. Leah Sottile's journalism is a huge asset to residents of our state (and heck, all people who want to be informed)!
04.12.2025 18:05 β π 8 π 4 π¬ 0 π 0I've said this before, but Leah is one of my professional heroes. She is a national treasure. It's been such an insane privilege to work with her & learn from her & play even a miniscule role in her work.
This is a huge loss for OPB and for Oregonians. I do not understand it at all.
On the day that @opb.org CEO Rachel Smolkin posted this video, saying OPBβs funding gap of $5 million was closed, I was also told by the Chief Content Officer that Hush was canceled. Eighty percent of my income, and my health insurance - gone. I was given no reason for the cancellation. 1/x
03.12.2025 22:04 β π 190 π 76 π¬ 16 π 31Youβre the best, Jen. I appreciate all the support and kindness youβve given me along the way.
04.12.2025 02:53 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thank you so much for listening to it. Never have I believed in a project so much.
04.12.2025 02:03 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This season of Hush is riveting. I was listening to episode 7 on Sunday and thinking to myself: these two journalists are so damn good at what they do and how cool that itβs found a home at @opb.org. Wow, what a loss.
04.12.2025 01:54 β π 12 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0In fact, it is used as a teaching tool at University of Oregon School of Law. Of course, leadership at OPB might know that if they expressed any interest in the project. They did not.
04.12.2025 01:47 β π 43 π 6 π¬ 1 π 0This one of the most disappointing and concerning decisions I have witnessed. The work of @leahsottile.bsky.social and @ryanjhaas.bsky.social on Hush, s2 was phenomenal. It elevated rural voices and shed light on a story deeply meaningful to their community & elevated the role of journalism itself.
04.12.2025 01:35 β π 28 π 5 π¬ 0 π 0Youβre the best, dude.
04.12.2025 01:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Ugh, this is such a gut punch. @leahsottile.bsky.social is one of the best reporters Iβve ever worked with, and her reporting is more vital than ever.
04.12.2025 01:23 β π 17 π 3 π¬ 2 π 0You're the best, Cari, and the fandom is mutual! I appreciate you paying attention.
04.12.2025 00:22 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This decision by OPB makes zero sense. The work that @leahsottile.bsky.social and @ryanjhaas.bsky.social have done in the two seasons of HUSH has been excellent and so important.
04.12.2025 00:11 β π 23 π 5 π¬ 1 π 0This is a big loss for journalism in Oregon.
03.12.2025 23:28 β π 22 π 5 π¬ 1 π 0That's very kind. Thank you so much for paying attention!
03.12.2025 23:33 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thanks, Dave. You know I'm too stubborn to stop!
03.12.2025 23:32 β π 11 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0ugh. this was not the repost I wanted to make. I have been behind on my listening and just finished season 2 of Hush. I was so excited to blast on social media about what amazing journalism this is - reporting that digs into nooks and crannies that are often overlooked or awash in misinformation.
