Today marks 80 years since the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshimaβ€”the first use of such a weapon in history.
As the only country to have suffered a nuclear attack, Japan has a vital role in building a world without nuclear weapons.
Let us pause to remember the victims and pray for lasting peace.

That's a good shout! We could also organise our own bluesky version of "shut up and read" or "shut up and write" πŸ€“

The image shows a peacock in all his majestic glory, standing next to a small ornate gazebo. His head is pointed to one side, looking to see if anyone in the grounds has food for him. His tail is long and sweeps the gravel behind him. He is not currently screaming.

Wanna have a picnic surrounded by peacocks (and peahens) with me? #phdlife #weekoff #peacocks #screaming

I'm very lucky to be visiting there in October this year. Apart from observing no shoes signs, being respectful, and covering tattoos, is there any other etiquette I need to observe when visiting shrines and temples?

Would be interested to get some ideas on this too! I scan my day book pages every week (one double page a day) and add some basic tags so that I can search the PDFs later, but wonder if I could be doing more...

πŸ“’ Seeking Autistic adults identifying as male/ Autistic adults who are racialised by society/ Autistic adults with level 2-3 support needs.
🎁 Take part for a chance to win one of four £25 Love2Shop vouchers (optional entry)
Hi, I’m Emily β€” I’m an Autistic trainee clinical psychologist at the University of East London, currently completing my doctoral research.
βΈ»
πŸ“£ Who can take part?
The study has already received strong interest from Autistic women with lower support needs.
To help ensure a wider range of voices and experiences are represented, recruitment is now focused on Autistic adults (18+) in the UK whose identities or experiences include any of the following:
β€’ Identify as male
β€’ Have medium to high (level 2 or 3) support needs in day-to-day life
β€’ Are racialised by society
β€’ Are trans, non-binary, or otherwise gender-diverse
You’re eligible to take part if you:
β€’ Identify as Autistic (formal diagnosis or self-identification)
β€’ Feel comfortable sharing your experiences via interview β€” spoken (in person or online), written, AAC, or with support
βΈ»
πŸ” What is the study about?
✨This research explores how Autistic adults experience empathy in everyday life, and how this might relate to emotional sensitivity and overwhelm.
✨It moves away from deficit-based ideas and aims to support a more affirming, nuanced understanding β€” by centring Autistic voices.
✨ By taking part, you’ll help build a more accurate picture of Autistic empathy β€” in research, clinical practice, and beyond.
βΈ»
πŸ’¬ What does it involve?
A one-to-one interview, completely flexible to suit your communication style and pace.
It’s part of a qualitative research study focused on your lived experience.
βΈ»
πŸ›‘οΈ Ethics approved by the UEL Psychology Ethics Committee (Ref: 357/U2631792/6)
πŸ“Ž Please see the recruitment poster below.
Please email u2631792@uel.ac.uk with questions or to express interest.
βΈ»
πŸ’› Thank you so much for reading and considering taking part!

Having worked on the inside, I spend a lot of time explaining it to others - it's not one huge organisation, it's lots of little organisations that have an NHS badge, but do things their own way and using their own systems. It doesn't always gel/mesh and that's where problems happen...

The image shows a view of a railway station, looking down the platform to the tracks beyond. The platform is marked with accessibility strips (yellow and bumpy) and the station roof is old and Victorian, vaulted and beamed in cast iron and a haven for pigeons.

This picture shows how I react when you forget to add #AltText to your images.

No picture attached?

That’s the point.

When there’s no alt text, sight impaired people get exactly what you’re seeing now:

Nothing.
