Three silver linings amidst the US' most radical turn towards protectionism since the Great Depression:

- The UK's low rate
- Trump, who has refused to engage with the EU and deals only with member-states, acknowledges its existence (see table)!

Interesting addition: SPD wants to enshrine in the coalition agreement a clause rejecting any cooperation with the far-right (ECR, PfE, ESN) in the European Parliament.

The results of the coalition negotiations between CDU/CSU and SPD on Europe have been leaked. Some institutional aspects:

- better enforcement of rule of law, including suspension of voting rights + making conditionality mechanism into instrument to sanction violations of EU values more broadly

While Kallas’ EU military aid plan is stuck, individual member states (and Norway) are coming through with increased aid packages.

- France €2bn (today)
- Sweden €1,5bn (today)
- Germany €3bn (last week)
- Norway €4,4bn (early March)

Yes.

Roosevelt's advice was to speak softly and carry a big stick. I am worried that President Trump is doing the opposite. He is shouting loudly, and when it comes to helping Ukraine he is carrying a small stick.
