Day 30: The Crow. What's a Devil's Night without a screening of this film? Brandon Lee is fantastic (RIP), the soundtrack is perfect, and the cinematography and set design perfectly capture a Gothic atmosphere.

Day 29: Don't Look Now. Donald Pleasance and Julie Christie are great in this. The score is also very good. If you're looking for a good, suspenseful psychic horror, check this one out.

Day 28: Lisa Frankenstein. Quirky and unafraid to be ghoulish at times. I loved this off-kilter love story.

Finally caught up! Day 27: The Shrouds. Weird recc, because did not like this film when I first saw it. Recently, I watched it again, and talk about a complete 180. I highly recommend this one as a good dramatic body horror about grief and AI tech.

Day 25: Tenebre. My favorite of Dario Argento's. Killer soundtrack and cool kills make this Giallo an interesting, if bizarre, watch.

Day 24: Hellraiser. I absolutely love this movie. The pace is absolutely perfect, and the story and direction are fantastic. This film helped me fall in love with the works of Clive Barker.

Running a bit behind. Day 23: Stagefright/Aquarius. A damn good Giallo film with a cool killer design. Lots of good gore effects and set pieces.

Day 22: The Hollow. This is a huge guilty pleasure. It's not great, but it has a surprising amount of heart, and does capture the feeling of the spooky season as a preteen/teenager in the 2000s.

Day 21: Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives. While I love pretty much every installment of this franchise, warts and all, this one is easily my favorite. Zany horror antics, a great story, and a kickass soundtrack make this one a must-watch.

Running a bit late with these because of a head cold, but Day 19: The Others. Creepy, and gets in your head. Great performances, gorgeous cinematography. I love it.

Day 18: Jaws. One I've seen bits and pieces of, but finally watched in full this year after reading the book. Scary, funny, and thrilling. There's a reason why it's held in such high esteem.

Day 17: The Changeling. A creepy haunted house movie that is an effective story of loss and betrayal. All of it is held together by great atmosphere, effective cinematography, and a strong lead performance from George C. Scott

Day 16: Demons. A really cool concept: people trapped in a movie theater and trying to not get possessed or killed. Some truly horrific gore effects and great cinematography make this one a wild, thrilling horror film.

Day 15: Tales from the Crypt. Before the HBO series, there was this film. It feels more like a Hammer film than the over-the-top HBO series, but that's why I enjoy it.

Day 14: The Phantom of the Opera (1925). Lon Chaney is the GOAT of make-up and performance. Doesn't hurt that this is the most faithful adaptation of the book, either.

Day 13: My Bloody Valentine (1981), but only the version with the gore effects reinstated. The Creature got me into horror, but MBV helped me fall in love with horror. Halloween, I love you, but this film holds a special place in my heart.

Whoops! Forgot to post, so today you'll get two!

Day 11: Darkman. Cheating a little here, as it's horror/super hero, but whatever. I love this movie with all its Sam Raimi goodness.

Day 10: David Cronenberg's The Fly. I know, a basic horror bitch choice, but I absolutely love this movie. Great effects, a tight and tragic story, and a great score by Howard Shore.

A bit late, but Day 9: Phantom of the Paradise. Fun, campy, if a bit uneven rock musical. Love Paul Williams's music, and this film has some great songs in it. Very much a '70s time capsule, and I love it.

Day 7: May. A lot of people already love this quirky, creepy film, but I still don't think it gets the love it deserves. It's a beautifully sad film that escalates to a horrific conclusion.

Day 6: Maniac. I love this movie. Be warned: it is GRAPHIC. The first-person cinematography is so good, and Elijah Wood is excellent here. The score by Rob is easily one of my favorite horror scores.

Now we are back in track! Day 5: Dracula (1931), specifically the Argentinian version. The English film with Bela Lugosi is obviously a classic, but this version boasts stronger cinematography and atmosphere. The best part: most home media releases of the English version come with this version, too.

In the spirit of spooky season, each day I am going to recommend horror films.

Day 1: Cuckoo. I enjoyed this one because of its surreal story, some genuinely eerie atmosphere, and well-shot horror moments. Not for everyone, but I loved it.
