Toad went back into the house. He got into bed and pulled the covers over his head again.

It’s just the front of her and she’s leaning her head back to look up at the camera with big golden eyes. She’s in a bed just below a windowsill on which there is a black plastic pot with a primrose plant that has several bright pink blooms with yellow centers. A prism just at the window is casting lots of little rainbows on the windowsill and sunlight is shining in. A sweet moment.

In 2024, the Biden administration finalized a rule 12 years in the making that meaningfully strengthened protections. However, industry in early 2025 asked the incoming Donald Trump EPA to undo it because, chemical companies claim, its provisions are too expensive to implement. The Trump EPA is now moving to kill most of the 2024 rules after it eliminated a public website that informs communities and first responders which chemicals are in use at facilities. The White House has also targeted the Chemical Safety Board, which reviews accidents and develops actions to avoid a repeat. The US experienced a chemical accident that harmed humans or the environment every other day on average between 2004-2025.

The moon is white, without features and just over half full. It is surrounded by a halo, visible against thin almost veiny-looking clouds, that goes from almost blue-white in the center to shades of red toward its edges, giving it a rainbow look. Below and to the right of that is a bright dot seen through the same thin greyish clouds. Further to the lower right is a green form that is just a reflection of the moon inverted.

I saw the moon in a halo hanging out with Jupiter last night.
