Art Nouveau dining at Bouillon Julien, Paris. Just lovely. And so cheap! No wonder people we know have been coming here since the 1950s!

A selfie of James smiling directly at the camera - he is wearing a bright yellow T shirt, sunglasses and a blue baseball cap. He’s standing against a wall painted in vivid primary colours and looks content.
Hello all, haven’t posted for a while here. How are you getting on? I wore a yellow T shirt today. It’s not massive news.

He’s decided to stop touring for the time being and shift career paths. But I’m sure you’ll hear him again somewhere! #folksinger #liverpool

09.06.2025 15:47 — 👍 5 🔁 1 💬 0 📌 0Teaching is underpaid generally, but for clarity may I point out that many weekend workshops pay artists more than £250 for a weekend, and the vast majority of professional musicians do not earn £1K per gig, John! I guess it comes down to how much you love it, really.

Martin Carthy’s new album cover. It’s a digital painting of Martin sitting at a diner table with a plate of breakfast, wearing a red scarf and black hat. The table is floating in the middle of a turbulent ocean. He is smiling.
Sam looks at Martin Carthy’s new album, released in May to coincide with his 84th birthday. Three tracks in this week’s TGIF, as well as three from the new rare and unreleased Paul Brady Archive!
