Cleaned it all up and now the bike idles smoothly. It'll be even better once I take it out for a ride, properly warm it up, and tune it to final settings.

Learning about bikes and carbs every day.

The cause of it, I think, is because the PCV is tubed straight into the airbox after the air filter, meaning all the engine fumes goes straight into the carb again to be burnt. I think that mixed with air filter oil has turned into a bit of a gummy mess, and started griming on the pilot air jet.

Every other jet was clean, but I missed this tiny one next to the inlet. It's the pilot air jet, and it determines how much air goes into the pilot circuit. This whole time I thought the idle air amount was determined by the small gap you leave open at the butterfly valve! Oops.

My DR650SE wasn't idling, and now I know why!

It was running rich in idle, and I could smell it too. Idle fuel mixture screw was all the way in, so the bike wanted to be leaner. Curious, because normally when a bike gets a clogged pilot jet, it shows a lean condition, meaning it wants more fuel.

Trying out a new design for my K bike's electronics box replacement. Designed to fit an motogadget munit in perfectly.
