You seem to have it backwards: the universe as effect creating consciousness, which is actually its cause. I’m speaking as a Gnostic who also spent 24 years as an initiate in the Ramakrishna Order of India.

And yet the consciousness that is their source remains unchanging, as water retains its identity despite temporary conditions called waves playing the dance of creation, preservation and destruction on its surface.

It depends on what you mean by consciousness. The ancient Vedanta would say the primordial consciousness is unconditioned, and that that it must precede evolution, pattern, and even the universe, because those are all based in conditions superimposed on conscious, from which they originate.

The kids blaming boomers are full of shit. Their generation contributed greatly to the fascist takeover too.
