all poems should be able to support, as an epilogue to their ending, "and that really shut mom up" or "so won't you just play with the tip". which one works better determines what genre of poem it is

It would have been a comparatively easy choice to draw Kaneda and the gang on their bikes, or Tetsuo in his Imperial Phase, but this kind of minimalist youthful, joyous β€œBURN IT ALL DOWN” gets to the heart of the story, and suggests to me Toth at least GOT it, which also suggests he appreciated it.

We can and should be critical of the regime in Iran. We should also:

A) Remember the US interference that ultimately led to that regime.

B) Reject yet other bullshit US war.

C) Uphold international law and condemn illegal aggression.

D) Be very concerned for the civilians in harms way.

My grandmother told us how our grandfather wrote her a bunch of letters during ww2 and then when he came back he started fooling around with other girls so she took all his letters and burned them. They eventually did get married haha.

Nancy by Ernie Bushmiller.

First panel, Nancy talking to a logger sawing a tree and pointing to a carved piece of trunk.

Nancy: Can I have that piece? My boy friend carved it.
Logger: Sure.

Second panel, Nancy is watching the log burn in the fire place.
Nancy: I'm mad at him.

Every once in awhile I think about this Nancy comic and it makes me laugh every single time. Absolute perfection.

Treat your children like people? What is this some kind of cult????

I had to say this feels parallel to like all of the whining people have about feminism where like the act of seeing women as equal to men is viewed as worshiping woman and believing they are superior.

Illustration of my friend's Oc dressed like the Lady of the Grove. A large ornate mirror stands behind her and a "?" bubble on her right. She looks to the left of the picture, where Snaag, Cassiel, and Nolga appear. They all react positively in their own way to her appearance.

I was born in an Iranian prison. My parents were held in their jails. My uncles lie in their mass graves.
Nothing you can tell me about the crimes of the Iranian regime that I haven't lived in blood and bone.
That doesn't mean I want my people bombed, maimed, killed, their homes in ruins.
If your vision of liberation comes only through the destruction of innocent lives, then it's not freedom you're after.

I am pro Iranian people. I stand with them against their own government’s repression AND against the imperial violence in the form of bombs dropped from the sky from Israel & the US who have already killed hundreds.

I support neither imperialism or dictatorship.

hey, uh, y'all *do* know that chatgpt *is* generative ai, too, right? it's not just art. gen-ai is not just stealing & scraping the internet for art, it is *also* stealing & scraping the internet for all types of written word.

you cannot be anti gen-ai and still use chatgpt. all gen-ai is harmful.

PANEL 1: NARRATOR: "Cultivating the measured NPR cadence and placid deference to the military that characterizes the ideal neoliberal subject, Clark Kent returns to the editorial meeting..." A group of DAILY PLANET reporters are in a meeting, Clark Kent is responding to a question from his boss. CLARK: "Well, chief, the bombing campaign--"

PANEL 2: Clark is talking and the other reporters and co-workers look unhappy. CLARK: "Obviously war in the region is not-ah-"ideal," but regime change could ultimately provide socioeconomic benefits that far outweigh the regrettable civilian casualties..." CLARK (thinking): "As Superman, last son of Krypton, these words of course sicken me; however, it's Clark Kent's job to manufacture consent!"

PANEL 3: (inset in a larger panel) One reporter is whispering to another. REPORTER: "Kent is such an off-putting sociopath" REPORTER 2: "I hope he kills himself". An arrow points to this inset panel that reads "Thanks to super-hearing" from Clark's ear. Clark is smiling and thinking to himself. CLARK (thinking): "Looks like my secret identity as Clark Kent is safe...FOR NOW!"

I admit I often get so distracted by pretty pictures that I don't always read all text boxes in word heavy comics but like stinz is so interesting and also incorporates the inking of the lettering so well into the comic that I just end up reading all of it and absorbing it
