Ferguson gave the keynote at the HDC annual celebration last year, and lept tip-toeing up to saying that housing was a human right but at the last second saying β€œneed”. It’s like lawyer edging for him.

I think this deserves at least as much sustained attention from US media as Claudine Gay's dissertation

Played my first LARP ever today (Luke Crane’s Inheritance) and holy moly was it fun: There is an incredible energy unlocked by physically embodying a character, and the tight scenario pushes everyone towards decisive choices.

My flawless three step theory of change:
1) Haters become waiters
2) Voters accept responsibility
3) I humbly accept their apology
4) I didn't change you did
5) peace

Dude, I’m willing to concede everything. I’m willing to admit that I’m wrong about everything, but you need to able to come up with a better theory of change than β€œvoters have civic responsibility”. It does no work. It gets us nowhere. It’s a tautology. It’s circular reasoning.

I’m saying there were other options who could’ve won, who would’ve probably been better long-term for the parties’s health.

We Don’t Need anΒ AutopsyΒ to Tell Us the Democrats Failed on Gaza The DNC is allegedly hiding a report showing that Kamala Harris’s Gaza policy helped cost her the 2024 election. But that report won’t tell us anything we don’t already know.

Also, let’s not pretend that candidates don’t make choices about what they want to run on: Harris’ Gaza failure cost her dearly, and changing her platform would’ve been a much simpler decision than getting her base excited about doing a genocide. www.thenation.com/article/poli...

OK, finally we’re talking about real things now. This is good. Actually, our own rep Adam Smith has pretty clearly stated that Biden was picked to get rid of Bernie Sanders. I think that’s an example of a bad choice.

I think voters are very critical to democracy, which is why I’m suggesting people who want to win at democracy need to run candidates that voters actually like, and stop blaming nebulous things like culture for being bad at their job.

I think a good start for winning at basketball is for people who play basketball to acknowledge that the team who scores the most points wins the game of basketball.

08.03.2026 01:43 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Great. What’s your plan to create a culture then? You’re saying the electorate needs to behave in a way that it doesn’t right now, and pointing that out is about as useful as pointing out that water sank the Titanic. That’s my point.

08.03.2026 01:36 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I think it’s a lot easier to change one candidate than several million voters though.

Fucking GHASTLY figures.

Israel & the US have slaughtered nearly 1,500 in Lebanon & Iran in just 7 days of bombing.

Iran warned that the United States & Israel were the Great Satan.

They were unambiguously correct.

harris was also wrong about how to beat trump iirc. kinda the most important test of each of their careers. both wrong. worse for harris because she went second and still lost

clinton's plan to beat trump was to elevate him above the rest of the republican field and then coast to an easy victory. i don't think she was right about that

Yeah, that’s nice. What’s your theory of change? How do you propose we get them to do that?

07.03.2026 21:17 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

It sounds like you need to figure out how to get more people to vote freely for someone else than for Trump.

And you don’t know how to identify who has power or agency in a political situation.

Functional if you don’t include the number of life boats.

07.03.2026 21:06 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

This is a bit like blaming water and ice for sinking the Titanic. Technically true, but it willfully distorts who has agency and power in the situation.

07.03.2026 21:06 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

This is like saying that ice and water sank the Titanic. Technically correct, but it misses the responsibility of building a functional boat.

again, so fucking what! voters don't get more interested as you cry into your beer that they should care about the things you want them to care about. as a candidate your whole job is selling yourself to them.

Would have mad respect if the Firefly reboot is as aggressively anti-nostalgia and un-fanservicey as the Twin Peaks reboot two decades later, but I doubt that's what they're going for.
