Yes, all intentional though. I read it as amazingly well written because there is a tremendous amount of information being conveyed about who these people are. The idea is that you find it confusing because it is not your world. The writer is putting you into the world of his characters.

There is a character called Pegg. We the reader are being shown something of how how Pegg thinks, speaks and writes. This tells us something about Pegg and the world this story is set it. It is carefully constructed for this purpose. We are being placed as readers in that world.

For a variety of reasons, transgender and queer have become associated, but they are not intrinsically so. Transgender men are men and transgender women are women. They can also be queer or not. And they can choose to embrace the community or not, just as cis people do. Many do for many reasons.

You are on to something here. It is related to the way trans women generally view themselves as women, plain and simple. Trans women are not anymore inherently queer than cis women. There are trans and cis women who are queer but being trans is not inherently queer.

It might in some circles, not generally I think with the financially wealthy clientele your initial post suggested you were hoping to attract. Still, if you have independent financial wealth, a private investigator working on behalf of the downtrodden who can not pay could be very useful imo.

There are schools to learn Private Investigation. There is some sort of licensing procedure. It helps to have some financial ability to survive the start up period imo. If you have military or law enforcement experience this helps with initial cred. Ymmv.
