Despite trying to adjust for demographic bias, Gallup polls still have the problem of only reaching people who answer their phone when an unknown number calls them.

It was even worse back when they were only calling landlines despite many people no longer having them.

Your mention of Lou Reed's "Walk on the Wild Side" reminded me of Mark Wahlberg's "Wildside" from 1991, which sampled it and followed the same format in telling stories about real people. (Though all were set in the Boston area in that case.)

It was inevitable that the new pope was going to call out JD Vance--no matter who it was.

The liberal cardinals were going to condemn his social cruelty. The conservative ones were going to condemn his approach to Catholicism that comes across as a virtue signaler who's a protestant at heart.

So apparently posting the following picture with the caption "BLACK GUYS WATCHING WHITE GUYS PAY BEFORE LEAVING WALMART" does not go against Facebook's community standards.

Today I learned that the skull image on the "death's head moth" from the Silence of the Lambs movie poster is made up of seven nude women.

Lauren Boebert posted on her Lauren Boebert for Congress facebook page a photo of her in the bathroom wearing off-white heels and what is either a white mini-skirt/blouse combo or a white dress that comes to mid-thigh (hard to tell from the photo angle) with a off-white blazer with the sleeves rolled up to mid-forearm over the ensemble. Regardless, her body is in mostly profile while her head faces the camera, and her left leg (closest to the camera) is lifted so that her calf rests on the sink edge while her foot hangs over the sink. She is using tissue held in her right hand to wipe her big toe and second toe off.

She has captioned this post with the following:

"Life in heels ain't always glamorous, sometimes we gals gotta take care of those barking dogs! In all things, find joy!"

The sweet/edible corn is already harvested before they make a maze of maize. The stuff they make the maze out of is the second planting using silage/field corn, which means it's going into biofuels, animal feed, and industrial food products.

Two poster signs using a waterproof material. The sign on the left is yellow background with black writing in all capital letters reading "Learn real estate investing 312-252-2025." It looks unprofessional. The sign on the right is black writing on a white background and has a drawn on arrow pointing to the left sign. Also, in all capital letters, it reads, "Learn 2 make signs professional." That last word exceeded the width of the sign, so the end letters are crowded against the right margin and angling downward. Under the last word is a thick black line, which follows the angling of the letters. Below the line are the words "same number" with the aforementioned arrow.

I can't decide if the irony of the sign on the right is intentional or not.

The Foo Fighters’ AIDS denialism should be on the record By Martin McKenzie-Murray in The Monthly

I'll give you the short version: they sponsored & supported the most influential AIDS denialist group of the 2000's, resulting in national policies in South Africa that caused an estimated 330,000 deaths there.

They have never apologized or acknowledged what they did.

With bill payments being typically electronic these days, why are payments made on Saturdays not applied until Mondays?

Computers don't take weekends and evenings off.

If computers ever achieve sentience, then maybe I could see the argument to give them weekends off.

I love how the tour boats bring it up when they pass Kinzie bridge. I used to walk that route home from work and it would bring a smile to my face when I heard them talk about it.

DMB are jerks, but Chicagoans and our tourists are class acts who can make light of the literal crap life throws at us.

Live action Monopoly movie? Are they going to start with many of the properties mortgaged and bankrupt just like what happened to Atlantic City in real life? Maybe have a cameo by Trump as he cuts ties with the Taj Mahal, Trump Marina, and Trump Plaza after driving them all into bankruptcy.
