I brought my Canon A-1 (late-70s film SLR camera) and 28/50/135 lenses and shot two rolls of Ilford HP5 B&W film. I don’t really have a good eye for B&W contrast, so we’ll see how it goes when I get the scans. There were more colorful signs and flags than I expected, partly due to Pride Month.

The crowd extended from the capitol building to the intersection of Congress and 12th (which was closed). There were also lots of people sitting on blankets on the capitol lawn, so it felt kind of like a music festival.

Today’s No Kings protest in Austin went as planned, despite the fact that the Texas State Capitol was evacuated earlier due to a “credible threat” against lawmakers who were scheduled to speak at the protest.

Some initial reporting had the wrong house number. Listening to AFD and ATCEMS on the scanner, I got the wrong house number too. Many radio calls were about injuries & damage at surrounding addresses.

It’s fascinating to see how people are confused by outdated and incomplete information during a breaking news event.

The house that exploded did not exist when the Google Street View car last visited in April 2024. It was just a foundation. This misleads people who don’t notice the date stamp.

Seriously, I turned on the F1 race (delayed recording) and during the opening credits I felt and heard a loud boom, which shook my apartment. A house on the other side of 183 had exploded. People heard it as far away as Cedar Park and Round Rock.

going "wow, not really possible, hehe they don't know what they're doing" is less useful than saying "their only intention here is destroying Social Security"

The focus is on the "embarrassing" detail of accidental texting but the *real* problem is govt officials using encrypted personal chat to hide meetings from recordkeeping law. The name "Houthi PC small group" implies there are many such secret texting groups being used for basic executive operations
