2. As someone looking in from the outside, historically the American way is about “superiority, cruelty and dominance”. That’s the doctrine of any colonial project. It’s why there was genocide against indigenous peoples in the US. It’s why the Global South has become the way it is.

I saw a post today from an author turned comics writer suggesting they bring back the “American Way” in the Superman mantra. Couple of things:

1. It wasn’t originally part of the mantra. It got added in the 50’s for the TV show back when McCarthyism was all the rage

Jack Kirby did great work the entirety of his career and deserves credit for it.

I think DC is hesitant to release that stuff because of all the minstrel characters. That being said I would be shocked if a proper Neal Adams/Denny O’Neil collection hasn’t been l in discussion.

The only flaw in It’s A Wonderful Life is that somehow it’s a tragedy that without George, Mary became an old bitty. Except she’s played by Donna Reed, so she’s still gorgeous, she just also wears glasses (also hot) and ties her hair back.

Only made funnier as it’s Mr. Potter who steals the Bank and Loan’s money.

Remember when Ben Shapiro was like “I like It’s a Wonderful Life, but it’s politics are flawed and Mr. Potter is one hundred percent right.” ?

I know everyone remembers the second half of It's a Wonderful Life more than the first, but you gotta admit, the recap of George's life cracks like a whip.

As I sit down for my annual rewatch of Capra's It's a Wonderful Life, I'm mostly stunned by the blocking and shot composition this time. There's a wipe transition that follows Ernie as he slides into his seat, left to right, that is amazing.

Man After Man: An Anthropology of the Future (1990) is a speculative book written by Scottish geologist Dougal Dixon and illustrated by Philip Hood. The scene depicts a future evolutionary descendant of man a "tundra dweller" attacked by a different descendants species of man in a wintery setting. I'm the distance more large assed members of the tundra dwellers ignore the violent scene. SEASONS GREASONS ONE AND ALL
