Quite. Absolute no-brainer bargain for the Russians.

A few years ago the US should have realised that helping Ukraine was an amazingly cheap way to cause great harm to the Russian armed forces.

Maybe Russia has actually realised that it can do the same to the US in Iran...?

It intrigues me how stuff like this happens. Either

(1) they were going way too fast and we need to do something to stop that being possible
(2) large cars are far too prone to rolling over even at low speeds and we need to do something about that

It's got to be one or the other surely...?

You would think if we weren't going to actually help Ukraine, we could at least learn from them, for our own sakes.

I missed that thread first time round but the £2.9m spent / £15k saved thing has made my day, thank you! 😂

Incredible lack of brain engagement...

Apple is sooooo far behind, android has been able to stun people for ages.

Oh maaaaan just when I was feeling good about replacing our gas boiler with a heat pump, now we have to replace our toilet to one that uses electricity instead of water as well?!

We moved into a house with no magnolia and I actually miss it.

This is the same nonsense the Tories used to do, like their fake "fact check UK" name change. Are they *trying* to make their reputation worse?!

I was thinking of this. Tactical genius

I'd like to see them try. Around here there just aren't any pedestrian crossings, despite how much people ask for them!

"The council plan to do a road safety review to look into potential locations of new crossings when funding becomes available..." yawn

Years ago I closed the bathroom blind carelessly, and it knocked over a mirror which fell in the sink and broke a massive great hole in it. Bah.

After much expense and faff we replaced the sink, put everything back - including the mirror - and, job well done, I shut the blind again. and guess what

Has anyone told coconut milk, which I'm pretty sure has been a thing for ages that doesn't involve dairy products at all either? Do we have to rename that too?

This seems crazy...

What if you're not a diverted cyclist, you're just a cyclist who is going over the bridge?

It's an oddly worded sign...

Hear me out: people should spend two seconds doing the most basic fucking proofreading before sending anything.

Whenever I hear even a tiny bit of that song this scene is exactly what comes to mind!

A chart showing the lengths of day and night throughout the year for Birmingham, UK. It looks to be symmetrical around midsummer. It shows two lines for when the clocks change in March and October.

I think that is the case... this is a chart of daytime lengths for Birmingham UK from www.timeanddate.com/sun/uk/birmi... which looks to be symmetrical around the longest day. It reminds me that the most annoying thing I find about the clocks changing is quite how late the change in March is...

Thank you! I wondered about this ages ago but only got round to actually working it out this morning... I knew there would be data to support Big February 😁

A graph of day length change / actual day length over the first half of the year; the peak is in February, due to the days being short but getting longer quite quickly.

February is the BEST in terms of how the days get longer as a proportion of the actual length of day.We gain more minutes per day in March, but the days are longer then anyway so who cares...

(Sorry for the terrible graph)

People can't get planning permission for bike sheds on their own property because they "spoil the look", but planners thought that nearly blocking a public pavement was totally fine?!

If you can't park without obstructing the pavement, you can't park. Find somewhere else. It's your problem, don't make it someone else's.

I got stuck in that John Lewis once, I found my way in but couldn't find my way out! Turns out the lifts didn't go to the same set of floors...

This was before such things, I forget what kind of phone it was now but it was the Nokia 3310 era. You either didn't have to unlock it at all or just holding "*" did it.

I guess my number must have been at the top of the recent calls list that something managed to press enough buttons to access...

Years ago we lost a phone on a hill in Snowdonia. The next day I had a 40 minute voicemail from it that was just a lot of snuffling noises. I don't speak sheep but I bet it said "if you want your phone back better pay up".

WTF were they thinking? "We look forward to working with local authorities"? Do they actually think that will do *anything*, let alone make pavement parking "a thing of the past"?

I agree, they should be livid, not welcoming.

New high-speed internet strategy for rural Britain: encourage war, wait for everywhere to be buried under discarded FPV drone fibre lines stretching between Ukraine and Greenland, plug into computers instead.

Probably more realistic than waiting for Openreach to do it.

I remember when we replaced a Dyson with a Shark, I realised vacuums didn't actually have to be so loud as to risk hearing damage every time you used them. A revelation.
