as someone with their own mental health struggles i do find it unauthentic to have someone just turn to the camera and say "i have anger issues because my mom never hugged me!" and then never do anything unproblematic ever

Being able to put a name to your own trauma can and is a journey unto itself. A road that many of us spend our entire lives traveling upon and will still not reach out destination before we run out of time.

and if you want a compelling story why have your character do all of that off screen
