O’Hagan is exactly the writer I hoped would write this.

Today is the launch of Tales Of The Suburbs, the new book by @grindrod.bsky.social
I’m honoured to be one of those tales
(And yes, my parents’ home did have net curtains)
An absolute dream to write this for @thequietus.com about Pet Shop Boys, suburbia and the city

Watched Twisters last night and that’s quite enough country and western music for this year.
Great cast. Fun, but should be funnier. Spectacular, but should be more thrilling. Storytelling and camera framing during the action scenes was lacking. Guessed most of the plot from the poster.
“Only debris…” doesn’t make me feel any safer about visiting Dubai Marina.

Wow. Take any photos last year? What do you most remember about it all from 76?
I’m prepared to visit the site myself. Got these old brochures and guides as homework!
Still got mine!

Chilling Monster Tales! (1966). Besides the historical context of horror fan mags, I’m especially interested to see photos from classic movies that I’ve not seen anywhere else.
This edition has a few from the Day of the Triffids movie…
Bought this edition again, to replace my decades-old, shagged, jumble sale copy.
Aching to see the movie again. Might even warm up the video projector for the big screen experience.
“…and now we go back to the Self-Televising Swing-Loo qualifiers.”
