Probably easiest to start with: Centrist Dad, then head to Car Nerd (or Bore, if he's left to it) and finally Posts about my industry (although I'd rather keep my specific profession out of things) Mainly skeets/ bleets about politics and cars though.

Bloody thing has become quite endearing as well.
Electrics are awful though.

The pickups we get here are no bigger than the Ford Ranger, and Iβve lost count of the number of times Iβve had to take evasive action in this π to avoid a collision on my side of the road with the shitwit driver of the pickup. And they are all, almost without exception, driven by shitwits.

05.12.2025 12:37 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Agreed, everything in life is political, but my point was that there's this way of living compared to the example one's (imaginary) three year old despising the existence of a specific politician because Dad comes home every day and does two minutes of hate on them.

I'd hope that they can overlay their own varied and lived experiences with the choices they make later on without me needing to lean them in any given direction.
Similarly, they find it odd that me and my wife are so peeved with the queues at the Chunnel, without needing to labour about Brexit

They'd listened to the Omar books on their Yoto players and so saw this as an incredibly exciting and new experience, not something which seemed 'different' even though we're not religious as a family.

We live in an incredibly white area, but through my work we were lucky enough to be invited to Iftar at the local mosque on one occasion this year.

As they're very young, most things in the world are just 'stuff' and the things they enjoy aren't specific to my background ethnically or interest-wise.

Can I 6-7 avoid it? Yes, fortunately... Ours are currently 7, 11 and 13 and so the main topics are memes, Barbie and interests like basketball, animation and YouTube and Barbie again.

And therefore that this was the cause of all the ills in the country and he should vote for the party which is looking to be performatively mean to minorities*.

*so he won't be voting Labour... Ooh, we like a bit of politics...! I've been Ben Elton! Goodnight!
I am sure that with his ethics at the next election (and he will be able to vote if they drop the voting age) he would vote Green or Lib Dem. I don't think he would look at our lived experience, what he knows of people we know from other heritages and then think there was too much immigration.

Eesh. More than two notifications on BlueSky? That's scary...
It's not that we don't talk about it, we do cover things to do with politics, but my kids would have no idea who I vote for (and this varies between local and national elections) and there's no specific direction given.

My son (an actual person, not made up) told me yesterday the result of his school elections. Green Party won (prepare yourself) and Reform came second. He's a bright lad, but had no idea why I thought Reform is bad. And his best mate is a Ukrainian refugee.
Good people keep politics out of family.
Itβs a tough time being a GenXer these days isnβt it? What with all the constantly having to point out how the impact of racism and a war you never actually saw affects generations not yet born π€¦π»ββοΈ
