If we really want to change society and get rid of misogyny we need to start with thinking of how society shapes gender normal from the very start of childhood. Otherwise we will keep repeating the pattern we are now in and never address the root cause.

The parents start discouraging those activities in favour of mainly sports. Even play starts being "sure you don't want to play with the girls do you". The ingrained misogyny in western society is huge but it starts with kids as young as that. As does learning to accept the word no.

They are a science family not a book one) and I wanted to cry at the idiocity.of that statement. Raising my own kids now 17 & 14 I have seen wee boys love art and music and stories and then somewhere shortly after they start school (the year in which they turn 4 between July and June here)

Because from a young age society tells boys they should be interested in only manly things like sports or cars and don't be vulnerable cos big boys don't cry. Yes they block the sound a lot better! Sleep loops have been a miracle for my daughter and she can't sleep without them now. They block out so much noise when worn correctly much more than traditional ear plugs do

My deeply mourned (first) border collie we got before having kids and until she was about to turn 17. Anyway she hated the sound of popping bubble wrap and balloons. Hence my kids never had balloons in the house and bubble wrap had to be popped in their rooms. She was a wonderful personality...
