I’m loving Bob Bell’s hummingbird series. This nestling footage is adorable!

Momma hummingbird is perched on the branch just to the left of the nest, facing right and feeding her baby, who is now about the same size as her. Her beak is completely down the baby's gullet!

Another 6 days have passed and it's now July 4th, the last time I saw the nestling before it fledged on July 7th. It was so big in the nest I thought it might fledge while I was there. I have a few more photos and then videos to post from this last visit. #birds #hummingbird

Adorable! Looks like that nest is a perfect fit.

A hummingbird nest built on top of a bare branch which runs diagonally from upper left to lower right. The nest is comprised of white, cottony-looking material and lichen. The female rub-throated hummingbird is sitting in it, looking to the left, with her tail sticking up on the right.

If you don't like hummingbirds, tune me out for the next week or so! I was lucky to be tipped off on the location of a ruby-throated hummingbird nest. I will be posting a series of shots taken over about two and half weeks, starting with this one of momma sitting in her nest on June 16th #birds

I enjoy @thebirderbob.bsky.social Bob Bell’s daily bird posts always make me smile! His book, Out of the Lyme Light and into the Sunlight: Birding as Therapy for the Chronically Ill was reviewed in Birding. I read it and can say it’s terrific too.

I like the warmth of its grey-ish brown breast streaking. It would make nice fabric pattern.
