Let's learn some surprising things about hummingbird tongues.

First, as you can see, their tongues are forked & feathery, highly specialized for lapping up their liquid diet of nectar.

Noticing that the first tongue probe was long, with remainder shorter. Guessing it's more efficient to move smaller amount of mass less distance more quickly? (ofc I haven't read the paper yet).

This is a very cool story, particularly the conclusion that phagocytosis is being repurposed to specifically house a chloroplast. That's neat.

While I don't think the "political press" is this homogenous, it's a real dynamic that made the press easy to game.

The political press very clearly understands “truth” as a social agreement, a compromise position between everyone important enough to have an opinion. It did not reflect on how this would allow dedicated liars to go all-in on lies again and again and dramatically shift the position.
