Currently having afternoon tea and cakes whilst watching Jules - a charming little film which is ET with quietly spoken old folk instead of shouty kids. Never been a huge fan of Ben Kingsley but he's actually quite fun on this. He and the rest of the cast give the film a genuine warmth.

Aside from Smith and the robot, they are all new characters. I assume that was so they didn't have to pay Gold Key for the use of the Robinson family that Irwin Allen er... 'borrowed' from their Space Family Robinson title. Smith and the robot were the only elements that Fox legitimately owned.

How lovely are Alex Toth's original character designs of Dr Smith for the otherwise risible Hanna Barbera Lost in Space cartoon special from the 70s.

SNL is SO unfunny even the audience have cue cards to tell them when to laugh.

Two episodes in and s2 of Monarch feels like it's become a hi-tech reboot of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. Scary monsters in corridors. Giant prehistoric monsters on mysterious islands. Huge underwater creatures. We just need Kurt Russell to turn into a werewolf and aim a missile at Washington. πŸ›₯️

This should be a sister piece to Tom Baker's 'Day in the Life' column for The Sunday Times.

Starfleet Academy ep 9: This one again has a slow start and builds into a somewhat predictable climax. The series' primary character arc is concluded too quickly and with little genuine effort and we get yet another 'Blade Runner' frontier planet. The final threat is nice and dangerous though. 6/10

Such a hard watch tonight's #EastEnders. No bittersweet homilies, no dream like hallucinations, no touching kisses, no Julia's theme. Just the stone-cold reality of Alzheimer's finality. Kudos to the production team for not sugar-coating it.

"Smug" is a word that always comes to mind when watching the show. Smug never resonates as funny.

It's one of those shows that in all its years of broadcast, it's never gone down particularly well in the UK. I think long drawn out single joke sketches performed by actors unashamedly reading their lines off cue cards is a format that belongs in the 60s with Sunday Night at the London Palladium.

The US's understanding of Tourette's seems to be at the same stage as the UK's was when Davidson's original 'John's Not Mad' documentary was broadcast on the BBC back in 1989... and that is NONE!!

Mine has all the paper work with it and the phone has the official BT sticker on it. I no longer have the box. It was bought damaged from a hardware store in Derby for a pitence in 2000.
