You know what’s not mentioned enough? When Mike Johnson said Trump was in the Epstein files so much because he was an FBI informant - and he has never mentioned it again because the lie was so monumentally stupid that it effectively proved they’re all wrapped up in it.

Nobody here needs to be told that Reform's claims of cheating are utterly absurd but it's worth noting that the anti-Reform vote was so large that even if the Greens and Labour had split it 50/50 Reform would still have lost — in fact they would have come third. They only value democracy if they win

Reform's response could not have been more Trumpian. A complete lack of dignity, grace and humility, blended with baseless whining about "cheating" and vague claims about "Islamist" and "woke" voters. Even Stephen Hawking could not have envisaged the lengths to which they can fuck off.

Waging war on work-life balance, punishing childless women and a UK ICE are all hugely unpopular and can only have been conceived in a toxic X bubble. As X loses influence, so will the populists.

I just don’t see how “restoring Britain’s Christian heritage” is a vote winner with anyone outside a v specific subset of the population already entrenched in the Reform UK base. The Christians who actually follow Jesus’ teachings find Reform’s politics of hate repulsive anyway.

Maybe I was just swayed by his brilliant Dan Brown parody but I used to follow Deacon on Twitter and thought he seemed quite reasonable and thoughtful for a Telegraph journo. Seems to be another one of many to go X-brained. It’s an epidemic!

They clearly don’t, even when their rhetoric is hostile. I’m not even saying Labour’s immigration policy isn’t awful, the Tories aren’t nasty and Reform aren’t far right. But *this* is different.

The UK parliament now has an MP who is openly racist and far right. This is, for the current era, new ground, and it will be interesting to see how - if at all – other MPs respond.

Populists saying unpopular things again. No one outside of their entrenched base wants a religious-themed ‘patriotic’ education. There may be a market for that in the US but Reform are misreading the 2026 UK.

Reform UK have suggested introducing a new ‘patriotic curriculum’ based on Christianity to give children ‘things to take pride in again’. However, there is already plenty that children and young people can and do take pride in. 🧵
