Yeah, the first two are acclaimed RPGs. Third one's a momentum-based 2D platformer that was divisive but still good - then from the fourth game onward, every single Badnik is just a generic Egg Pawn with no name. The sixth game addresses some of the complaints but it's still not quite the same.

Imagine a Dr. Eggman RPG in the vain of Paper Mario. Your partners are all classic Badniks from across the Sonic series.

This is the euphemism treadmill at work. Using a replacement for a contentious word long enough will make the replacement word equally contentious.

"Cool" is probably one of the most prolific examples. Started in black jazz culture and caught on with the general populace.

Nothing inherently wrong with it of course - people pick words up from each other all the time, and that's normal; but it's good to recognize and respect where it came from.

"Unalive" "grape" "seggs" This has got to stop. Do people hear themselves? Its like talking to a particularly sensitive toddler. We can't remove serious words from our language just because we're afraid some fickle algorithm will show our posts to less people

Every now and then we see little flashes to Brak's cleverness still there too - like when he realized Space Ghost could only blast Zorak but not him because he's "not animated to explode."

When I was streaming Tomato Adventure a couple days ago, @villomaru.bsky.social mentioned that it should be brought up more in Mario RPG discussion similarly to Bug Fables and I absolutely agree. I feel like more Mario & Luigi fans (and even Paper Mario fans) need to play this game.

But the fact that they bothered to try to tie everything to the old series - as opposed to just using the character designs with no roots to their original show or something - was cool. There was a clear appreciation for the original while still making fun of it. As a fan of both, I loved it.

It definitely showed an affection/respect for the source material. Even characters that were heavily changed like Brak were given an in-universe reason for it, with Cartoon Planet establishing the Piranha-Mite swarm damaged his brain (though "Smart Brak" still appeared after said swarm, haha).

There are plenty of other good appearances for the not-so-good Doctor; but these are a good place to start if you just want to dive in to some of stories with high Eggman focus.

So far, three live-action Sonic movies have been released, and Dr. Robotnik is great in each of them! He's a fun villain in the first film, but really ramps things up in Sonic 2, and even gets some character development in Sonic 3. A fine depiction of Eggman!
