So much for making Americans safer. Seems to me that all this has done is create millions more people who hate us. Especially when we drop bombs on school children.

I'm begging my fellow politicians, Illinoisans, and Americans to realize that right now, we aren't fighting over policy or political party.

We're fighting over whether we're going to be a country rooted in empathy and kindness — or one rooted in cruelty and rage.

How out of touch is it to believe “smug white women” don’t know how to tell if a situation is escalating and may turn violent? That only guys can do this. EVERY woman in this country learned this skill at a young age. We constantly need to monitor the anger and threat levels of the men around us.

My cat does this too. And she loves to bring us socks.

With everything going on in this country, it’s easy for me to become overwhelmed. I’m so thankful for Zelda, my “emotional support cat.” She senses when I’m upset, jumps into my lap, and touches her nose to mine. Then she purrs and waits for pets. We don’t deserve them. #HappyCaturday
