The scary thing that happens to me sometimes is picking up a pencil and it feeling completely foreign in my hand, like I've lost all muscle memory. It comes back after I force myself to sketch but I think that might be burnout related, too, and the closest I've encountered to what you describe.

The first thing to come back to me was ideas, but not the desire to follow through on them. I'm still sitting around there in my recovery journey but, notably sat down to just make something for no reason other than I could a few months ago, so things seem to be improving slowly but steadily.

I go through waves. Oftentimes, the desire to draw in theory and energy or want to follow through in practice are two different things, and rarely do they cooperate with one another.

I've oscillated between adverse to the idea of artmaking, then inspired but tired, and more recently wholly neutral

Something like an eagle/raven, vulture, and a seabird would be amazing!

It was a very light badge con, in contrast to my drawing subjects, who were very dark!

Black and dark grey is always very tricky to photograph even in the best of circumstances (which a 3am hotel room is not) but here's an attempt to share the two I made.

Wisp, a grey tabby cat, is curled up on the couch, napping. Her little forehead stripes and stark eye markings make it look almost as if she is smiling while asleep.

Look at this baby. Look at her little face. I could only dream of being so cozy.

Sometimes, there is honestly no greater joy in the world than a curled up cat.

As of like... Now, literally late this year, game design seems to have found me again in full force and I'm working on a few dev projects (part of why I have regrettably been so quiet here). If that continues, the next stage of my career will need to be about finding balance for everything.

I did get a degree in Game Design there somewhere, but when I stuggled to find full-time work I fell back on the one thing that had always been supportive of my artmaking (furries) and leaned into it fully. That's when I started to table at cons and produce merchandise, and Inkmaven Art was born.

Since this seems to be going around;

I started my art career working for a (now defunct) virtual pet site, and a wonderful user there named Rainy, a white bat with rainbow hair, proposed I try out furry artwork since I was good at both animals and people. I did, and I never looked back 😂💙

Avery leans coolly up against their milotic, arms crossed and one leg kicked up. Malik, their pokemon, supports them from behind. Both look unflappable (and maybe like you're probably not cool enough to sit at their lunch table).

Probably a lot like a farrier. I bet they can also attach anchored horn jewelry, fix wing membrane tears (or pierce them for clothing), and do claw and actual hoof maintenance as well. Like a fancy popup spa 💅

Looove all the blues in this, and the fact that the fog and the moon overlap the circular composition. Also props for picking a tough angle on the character's head and shoulders! I think you nailed it, that head tilt is always tough for me to get right.
