Pretending it's the opposite is the sort of reality inversion only someone who rejects truth itself could buy.

24.10.2025 15:53 β π 26 π 3 π¬ 1 π 0**Do you think that America writ large has a Nazi problem?** Yes, of course. America has a serious antisemitism problem, as does the world, for that matter. You see it in this Young Republican stuff. Some of these people hold positions of power in campaigns and in political organizations. They are actively making jokesβlegitimately racist, and not in a jokey way. That isnβt funny. Thatβs a problem. And the cancer of racism, the cancer of antisemitism, the cancer of Nazism, this is something that needs to be excised from the American body politic. It is something that we need to be fighting against every day.
In it, Platner is emphatically anti-Nazi. And I think that those of us whose values have long been clear to us sometimes have a hard time believing that others can believe contradictory things, and can change so drastically.
It's one of the biggest problems with movement-building imo, in fact
In this photo provided by WGME, Graham Platner, a democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, shows a cover-up tattoo that had previously been an image recognized as a Nazi symbol, during an interview on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2025, in Portland, Maine. (WGME via AP)
βGoing to a tattoo removal place is going to take a while,β he said. βI wanted this thing off my body.β
Platner said he was not ashamed to confront his past comments and actions because it reflects the lessons he needed to take to get where he is today. βI donβt look at this as a liability,β he told the AP, adding he sees it as βa life that I have lived, a journey that has been difficult, that has been full of struggle, that has also gotten me to where I am today. And Iβm very proud of who I am.β
Graham Platner has covered up the tattoo using Celtic knot imagery.
I actually think there's some powerful meaning in that specific decision, to replace a symbol of white supremacy with one of interconnection and nature

In the American Constitutional republic, there were checks and balances between branches of the federal government, and laws that all officials had to follow, prominently including laws on the use of military force.
