I’m outside of Texas Oncology holding a certificate of completion from my radiation therapists. My hair is very short but it’s growing back!

I’m waiting for surgery. I’m wearing a tight fitting cap to keep my bald head warm, a loose cotton tunic with a rainbow of stripes, and my hospital bracelets (one is yellow and reads “fall risk” in bold black lettering). Anxious undertones are trying to be pushed aside by a smile of hope.

A nurse’s hand is holding a silver bell and I am pulling the rope to ring out and signal the end of my chemotherapy sessions, and herald in the next part of my cancer journey of surgeries and other treatments.

Some of the best nurses I have had the pleasure of meeting are grateful for the opportunity to celebrate in their work and throw confetti at patients 😊

It’s me in the chair, the uncomfortable recliner, for the last time 🤞 fingers crossed.

Almost forgot! I got to ring the bell that sounds the end of my chemotherapy treatments and heralds in my upcoming surgeries.

Cancer can’t take the smile off my face! I’m holding up a paper that says “6th and LAST!” and I’m wearing a purple tank top with a burgundy apron, and background is milk-drop multicolored swirls and bloops. The filter makes the burgundy look more red, and the purple looks more like blue-violet. It’s all good. I am hopeful about this course of treatment and grateful for all the support.

Picture is of me from the last time I went to get IV fluids. Long version: A crown came off while I was eating and when I bit down it cracked my partial. The tooth with the miscreant crown is totally decayed and needs to be pulled. It will require a bone graft so that bit is $1k for the tooth. My upper partial is $2k to replace. That makes it possible to eat foods that aren’t mush. I’ve checked around, and this is the most affordable price. Plus, I trust this dentist and their skills at doing a quality job. It turns out that chemotherapy can weaken dental stuff, so that sucks. But I’m almost done! I just need to get this taken care of so my surgery doesn’t get delayed. Please donate if you can. There’s not been a donation for a bit, and this dental surgery is crucial stuff.

Short version: Y’all, It’s definitely an emergency situation to raise $3000 within the next few days to cover a very important dental surgery.

At the infusion center getting more IV fluids in my chest port after I got my belly shot of bio-boosting marrow production done. So I’m sitting in the uncomfortable recliner for three extra hours today. It helps a bunch but it’s annoying. I’m wearing my black tank top linen apron and skull cap.

Sitting in the infusion center’s very uncomfortable recliner, I am holding up my right hand with fingers extended to indicate that this is my fifth chemotherapy treatment out of six! I’m wear a great scarf rag to cover my bald scalp, and a burgundy tank top. I’m smiling a little because the nurse brought a fan to clip onto the IV stand because it’s so hot today by the large window. Also, I’m getting really good at drawing on eyebrows!

Chemo infusion 5 of 6 and then surgery. It seems like the days are a blur.

I’m sitting in the infusion center, getting fluids pumped into my body via the port in my chest. I’ve got a sporty yellow bracelet that says “FALL RISK” on my right wrist. I’ve been too dizzy so they want me extra juicy for tomorrow’s chemo session.

It’s me, getting IV fluids for two hours. I have a dandy cotton scarf of purple, black and blue wrapped around my scalp, and I’m wearing a purple tank top. I’m sitting in a beige recliner that is really uncomfortable. An IV drip is seen going into the port in my chest. The look on my face is of “oh well, same thing/different day”. I’m very grateful to have a new oncologist who actually listened to my concerns.

It’s been a rough week. Today’s visit was actually good. The new oncologist listened to my concerns, ordered meds for my side effects, and then sent me to the infusion room (where we are now) for IV fluids.
