In the under 3’s room we’ve had lots of Christmas fun this week! There has been lots of different experiences to explore. We decorated our tree made of oats, made our own Christmas trees from play dough and created snowmen from rice. It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!

It’s getting very wintery and cold outside and we’ve even seen some snow. So today we made a giant snowflake and used our fine motor skills to draw up different coloured water into droppers then squeezed the water onto our snowflake to colour it in. We thought it looked beautiful ❄️

We have been developing our imagination in the garden. We have practiced problem solving, teamwork and numeracy skills as we created car garages, petrol stations, ice cream shops, cafes, trains and homes. Lots of early money skills as people visited our creations too💰🚂🏠🚗🍦☕️

Thank you to Reverend Scott for coming into nursery to read The Christmas Story to us ✨We all had great fun making donkey noises!

Bookbug this week was a lovely and relaxing session. The children enjoyed lying on their tummies to listen to the story and taking their shoes off to get comfortable. Thank you to one of our parents for coming along. A little reminder it will be on Thursday at 2.15pm 📖🎶

We made shortbread for St Andrews Day at Big Cook Little Cook. Thank you to the parents who came along and joined us. Lots of lovely interactions and skills being developed 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 👩🏼‍🍳

We made pizza today. We had fun using our ingredients to create different faces. We developed our fine motor skills as we chopped up the peppers and loved sharing what we helped to make with our friends asking them ‘do you like it?’ We even wanted to give some to our mums when they collected us 🍕

We’ve been reading The Three Billy Goats Gruff. We didn’t want the Troll to be hungry so we fed him some porridge instead of goat! We’ve been using our imagination loads this week pretending to be the troll and the goats and building bridges.

We enjoyed tasting our yummy soup we helped to make this afternoon. We talked about the ingredients that were in it and if we liked it or not. Some children had more than one bowl! Nadine was so happy to see lots of lovely interactions at the table as she had some soup with us 🥣❄️🤍

We explored our snack, making faces. H ‘I made a sad face’ M ‘I did a happy one’ R ‘I made a O face’. We spoke about what else we could make into faces and chose pizza. We created a shopping list with ingredients we could use for facial features. H ‘sweetcorn for eyes’ M ‘we need cheese’

We discussed the weather and what we could do to keep warm. M ‘go under a blanket’ A ‘hat scarf and gloves’ we guessed what we were making to keep us warm B ‘hot chocolate?’ MK ‘soup?’ We made some yummy vegetable soup and lots of our parents said it smelled yummy. We can’t wait to eat it tomorrow🥣

Thank you to all our families who joined us for Family Breakfast. It was lovely to see our children happy and showing their families how well they know our snack routines. Nadine had some lovely conversations with our families and a huge topic was Christmas since it snowed last night ❄️ 🎅🏻 #peep

Just a wee reminder that our lending library is available in our nursery foyer and is available to access for all of our children and families! If there are any books any of our wee ones would like please let us know and we will try to source it 📚

Today in the under 3s room we connected and disconnected different sized blocks by sticking them together with shaving foam and then taking them apart to Create something else. Some children made animals and others made trains ☺️

What an amazing turn out for Bookbug yesterday📖 🎶 thank you to all our parents who came along. The children had a lovely time and I think their favourite part was singing Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes really fast 💨👀👂🏻👄👃🏻

We had so much fun today playing with shaving foam in the tuff tray. We decided to add different colours and we made lots of circles, shapes and marks with our fingers in the foam. We used lots of different descriptive words like ‘soft’ and ‘squashy’ and ‘yuck’ to describe what the foam felt like.

This week we used our hands and cardboard tubes to make firework paintings. We talked about the noises and the colours that fireworks make in the night sky and we used our fine motor skills and creativity to make our own fireworks paintings.

We had so much fun yesterday doing large firework painting in the art area. We discussed the sound fireworks make and the different colours and shapes we had seen as we watched videos of them on the iPad. We can’t wait to display it on our wall 🎆 ❤️

We had great fun with Nicole yesterday at Bookbug! Our favourite part was the shiny lycra! Thank you to one of our parents for joining us. Hopefully more families are able to join us next week 😊 please speak with Nadine or Nicole if you have any questions 🎶📖

We have been exploring oats in the art area and discussing the different sizes of bowls and spoons. We were able to retell parts of our new story of the moment Goldilocks and the three bears. E”daddy bears bowl is big” K “Goldilocks ate baby bears porridge”
